Ocean Views /

This elevated, north-facing single story home has incredible views to Burleigh Headland and the surrounding ocean, whilst being immersed in native Eucalypts and birdlife. The kitchen and dining areas of the house were orientated toward the ocean views, yet the front garden contained no shade structure and a steep, hot north facing slope.

An extensive covered patio was created directly off the pool with the aim to be used as an outdoor living area. Privacy screens were created using timber battens which guide fragrant climbing plants to soften the surrounding hardscape. Low, fine-foliaged vegetation was planted at the rear to maintain the ocean views, whilst adding colour and texture to views off the patio terrace.

A bright, light planting palette incorporated yellows, middle greens and blues to visually connect the sandstone, internal pool tile colour and the open northern sky.
